The Monte Front\u00e8<\/b> Monte Front\u00e8 (2,152 m a.s.l.) is a mountain in the Ligurian Alps (subsection Marguareis Alps).<\/p>

It is the second highest peak in Liguria after\u00a0Monte Saccarello<\/strong><\/a>Like this one, it has a grassy slope, used as pasture, on the north-east side (towards Monesi and Piaggia) and is rocky and very steep on the west side (towards Verdeggia and France).<\/p>

On its peak there is, on a small base, a Madonna statue erected in 1955. The current name is the contraction of the previous historical name of Monte Frontero.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

From San Bernardo di Mendatica starts a picturesque trail that in about 3 hours will lead to the top of Monte Front\u00e8 (2,153 meters), one of the highest and most beautiful peaks of the Ligurian Alps. At the beginning you will walk along a trail in the middle of a wonderful beech wood and then you will reach the Magheria Garlenda and from here, leaving the trail to Monesi on the right, you will reach the Front\u00e8, along the Cima Garlenda. <\/span><\/p>\n

The area is famous for its flora, with numerous endemic species, glacial relicts that coexist with typically Mediterranean species; among the most representative we have the golden button, the gentian major and tens of others. We must not forget the faunistic aspect of the last part of the excursion, the slopes of Front\u00e8 are in fact frequented by chamois and marmots as well as a transit place for the wolves that frequent this part of the Ligurian Alps. The ecological importance of the area has been recognized at an institutional level with the constitution of the Parco delle Alpi Liguri in order to protect them and to let them know. <\/span><\/p>\n

On the top you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Saccarello (the highest peak in the Ligurian Alps), the Monega, and the chain of the Piedmontese part with the Marguareis and Mongioje; equally magnificent is the view of the Monesi basin on one side and the Conca di Monesi on the other. The presence of forts and barracks will not miss, silent witnesses of the defences placed (from the end of 1800) on the border.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
